Where My Voice Met Theirs

There’s a quiet thrill in watching a room filled with difference: a fashion designer beside a cultural historian, a 20-year-old student leaning in to absorb the words of a curator. That sense of unexpected harmony is what we hoped to cultivate when shaping Creative Dialogues. Not just an event. A gathering with intent. A space with a soul. At its core, Creative Dialogues was imagined as a bridge, linking perspectives, disciplines, and generations. We didn’t want conversations that ended in applause. We wanted conversations that shifted something, that gave rise to ideas bold enough to stay with you. Building the program was a precise, structured process. My role in it was to map the content of each day: from keynotes to workshops, panels to fireside chats. I worked to ensure that every session was tied to the day’s theme in a meaningful way, and that each voice brought something essential to the table. Beirut and Cairo required different lenses and tones. Through research, reflection, and continuous dialogue, we shaped two distinct yet interconnected experiences. We began with the wider lens: a single overarching theme. From there, the structure narrowed to daily sub-themes, then to sessions tailored to format, audience, and purpose. Balancing regional nuance with global relevance meant observing the world and our place within it. We looked outward to understand the broader shifts in art, design, and culture. Then we looked inward, asking how those shifts resonate across our region. For younger audiences and emerging creatives, we focused on relevance. Who are they drawn to? What are they questioning? Where do they seek guidance? These questions shaped the selection of speakers and the design of each topic. The goal wasn’t just to speak to them, it was to build something they could see themselves in. What do I hope people take away? That inspiration isn’t passive. It demands curiosity. It demands risk. If someone leaves the room with one new question, or the courage to begin something they’ve been holding back, I believe the dialogue has done its work. This is only the beginning. Creative Dialogues’ future isn’t about expansion for the sake of scale. It’s about deepening and connecting creative communities across geographies in ways that feel personal, timely, and necessary. Because when the right people meet at the right time, something always begins. And perhaps, without meaning to, I became one of its many voices, learning, listening, and building.
